Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is a Mexican American journalist. She is currently employed by ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She started working at ESPN in 2016. She is the child of journalists on TV Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from age nine. Her abilities were crucial in securing her first job as a production assistant at Univision Miami in which she assisted the production of the shows Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. She was hired as a reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. The year 2009 saw her move into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as a news reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reporters covered issues related to illegal immigration as well as drug trafficking in both Texas and Mexico. Also, she was often requested to serve as an anchor for the weather or sports. Later, she was anchor and reporter to Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She covered all of the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason and finals FC Dallas as well. Apart from that, she also produced the local Univision 23 sports program Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor. She also served as the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. The anchor also worked in a similar capacity for the network's magazine program Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents come of Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. Her sister is also there. The family moved to Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. Her parents divorced soon after in 1995. Her mother got married to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. The time of summer when she was with her sibling in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had gotten work. At the time of her senior year in high school, and with a clear idea what she wanted to do for her life, Antonietta attended The University of Mount Union to determine if the school was suitable for her needs. She was in love with the campus. It also gave her the major that she desired. When she completed her high school education, she enrolled in the University to pursue media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the managing director for WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was a participant. Professor Mark Bergmann influenced her with his enthusiasm for journalism. The professor also had a profound impact on her.
